Can you use the plugin functionalities without activating the plugin? We don't have any issues using on our test site.
No I cannot. As soon as the plugin is activated it locks me out to the Freemius license screen - asking to "Enter license key"

We've uploaded an activated 5.1.7 version. Please check it out.
Have you tested the "activated 5.1.7"? For example, if you use a free staging site on InstaWP andd try to upload and activate the plugin, then it continues to block you out and ask for a license, The plugin settings cannot be accessed. This is the exact same issue I'm experiencing on my clients site.
As mentioned by the OP, I am also experiencing the same issue with the Freemius license activation
